CAP (Certificate of Professional Competence) is a compulsory training certificate that must be obtained by all drivers (lorry or bus drivers) who have obtained a heavy vehicle driving licence, such as C or D. This initial CAP training is usually given at the same time as obtaining a driving licence. All professional drivers must also undergo refresher or ongoing CAP training every 5 years.
